Using the BABC to build
your transatlantic business
If you’re using this handbook, you must be interested in transatlantic business. So you are probably already a member of the British- American Business Council (BABC), and using the BABC’s unique network and services to build your transatlantic business – like David Kay, Partner, DrinkerBiddleGardnerCarton, and Chairman, BABC Chicago:
“I am amazed that more companies do not take advantage of the BABC network. It offers an outstanding, cost-effective opportunity to build high-quality transatlantic business relationships and a transatlantic client-base.”
David Kay, Partner, DrinkerBiddleGardnerCarton
The BABC is by far the largest transatlantic business network, with 25 chapters and 3,000 member companies based in major business centers throughout North America and the UK. Our members use our network in a variety of ways to develop their business – for example, by connecting with their fellow members through our password-protected Online Membership Directory; by participating in the events organized by chapters throughout our network, and in our Annual Transatlantic Business Conferences (London, 2006; Los Angeles, 2007; Chicago, 2008); and by leveraging our channels to promote their services and products directly to our other members in 25 other major business centers.
They also take advantage of the many other business services we offer, ranging from immigration assistance and cross-cultural programming to marketing opportunities and extensive corporate databases.
Our membership includes many of the world’s largest multinationals. But it also provides great business access for smaller companies – like Synthesis LLC:
“As an entrepreneur working with multinationals on both sides of the Atlantic, I am very pleased with the seniority and diversity of business people whom I have the opportunity to meet through my membership of BritishAmerican Business in New York and active participation with the broader BABC network. I know that when I visit any of the cities where there are BABC chapters, I can be assured of a warm welcome and introductions to people and events that can produce business benefits for both small and large companies alike.”
Peter Luzmore, President, Synthesis LLC
We also benefit from strong support from – and an excellent partnership with – both the UK and US governments. If you are looking to establish or expand your business in almost any region of the UK or North America, we have a regional chapter right on the spot, ready and willing to help you.
All our chapters know their regional markets well and have a range of business services to offer you. They also have member companies who want to do business with you. So, if you want to build your business in any of the 25 regions listed after this article, please visit us at www.babc.org and contact our chapters in the relevant region to find out how they and we can help you.
I’ll leave the last word to our two Ambassadors: Sir David Manning, British Ambassador to the United States, and the Hon Robert Tuttle, US Ambassador to the Court of St James’s. They came together to open our Annual Conference for 2006 in London, and to make the following statement:
“The BABC has fully earned our support, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the organization to build its further success in the future.”
Sir David Manning and the Hon Robert Tuttle
