BABi incorporates the British-American Chamber of Commerce
(New York/London) and the American Chamber of Commerce
(UK), which merged in September 2000 to create a stronger
transatlantic business organisation. BABi has two offices,
in London and New York, and is a not-for-profit organisation.
The BABi membership includes many of the worlds
largest multinational corporations, as well as hundreds
of middle market and smaller enterprises. These companies
represent a broad range of business sectors, including
financial and professional services, technology, transportation,
marketing and communications, manufacturing, travel
and retail.
BABi offers a broad range of services designed to bring
practical business benefits to its member companies.
It also offers additional business opportunities to
its member companies through its active participation
in the British-American Business Council (BABC), the
largest transatlantic business network, with over 30
chapters and 3,500 member companies throughout the US
and UK.
An active participant in the European Council of American
Chambers of Commerce (ECACC), BABi also works closely
with other leading organisations, including the worldwide
network of American and British Chambers of Commerce.
BABi enjoys the strong support of the US and UK governments
and of a distinguished International Advisory Board.

BABi organises a wide spectrum of more than 120 events
a year in New York and London, including business seminars,
financial and economic briefings, policy forums, networking
receptions, speaker programmes, new product and service
launches, sporting and social occasions and the Annual
Transatlantic Business Awards Dinner (US) and the Channing
Award Dinner (UK).
Highlights include:
Transatlantic Business Awards
Each year, at a gala dinner in New York, BABi honours
the chief executives of two major multinationals and
two entrepreneurial companies for their contribution
to transatlantic business. Since its launch in 1995,
this dinner has become recognised as the premier event
in the transatlantic business calendar.
Channing Awards Dinner
BABi hosts an annual dinner in London to honour an individuals
contribution to public service in the transatlantic
business environment and the special relationship between
the UK and the US. The award is given in memory of William
Ellery Channing.
Annual Christmas Luncheons
On both sides of the Atlantic, the Christmas Luncheons
have been one of BABis largest and most popular
events for more than 40 years, attracting an audience
of more than 1,500 executives. Both represent great
opportunities for client entertainment and the promotion
of corporate services and products.
Annual golf tournaments
BABi holds major annual golf tournaments in both the
US and UK. The US-UK business relationship represents
the largest economic partnership between any two countries
in the world, including more than $270bn in two-way
investment and some $74bn annually in two-way trade.
The UK over 40% of all US investment in the EU (US Department
of Commerce).

Through its London office, BABi provides a trade information
service for its members on both side of the Atlantic.
The service provides members and non-members (for a
fee) with information on both the US and UK, lists of
sales leads and contact details for companies navigating
the laws governing bilateral trade. Inquiries are also
referred directly to members, thereby promoting them
to buyers, distributors, wholesalers and other relevant
businesses.
The Trade Information Service can also provide access
to special databases, including: Dun and Bradstreets
Who Owns Whom; Million Dollar Directory; and Key British
Enterprises.
BABi publications are geared to the interests of the
transatlantic business community and serve as a vehicle
for providing information on a wide array of topics,
ranging from business issues and transatlantic trade
policy to BABi events and services.

BABis Transatlantic Professionals Exchange Programme
facilitates the transfer of business trainees between
the US and the UK. This programme enables member companies
to provide their employees with an opportunity to experience
life in the US or the UK and enhance their professional
skills through training at member companies.
In the US, BABi is authorised by the US Department of
State to issue to qualified business trainees the Certificate
of Eligibility necessary to apply for an Exchange Visitor
(J-1) Visa. In the UK, the Training and Work Experience
Scheme permit (WP2) can be processed through a relationship
with the UK Department of Education and Employment.
